Surveying The Territory

Zorro stood tall on a high ledge, looking over his pack. For it was finally his pack. No more would he be standing in Venganza's shadow. No more would he be second best. No, now he was the alpha wolf. Even the legendary Venganza couldn't stand up to him. He was the legendary alpha of the City of Wolves now. Rata was sitting at the foot of his ledge, watching him eagerly. He was a young nuisance, but a fast learner. On top of that he was already smart - he knew exactly what he wanted of him. He had his same views and dreams. Looking at him was like looking at a younger ... more immature, admittedly ... version of himself. Fuego and Sirena were wandering around, talking between themselves quietly, casting the occasional uncertain glance at Rata. Zorro didn't care if they were part of his pack, Rata could annoy them all he wanted. Giro and Aria were laying together a little way away, Giro's body wrapped around his mate's protectively as he watched him suspiciously. Some part of Zorro knew that he might suspect him of trying to get rid of her. But hey, it wasn't his fault that Venganza had hidden that little thing away from him for all these years. He was a smart one. And if the rest of the pack got wind of this ... it didn't bear thinking about.

Mikey watched Zorro up on his perch. He was sat on top of an overturned car that had somehow ended up on the roof of a small building. Zorro looked like he had something important to say. He got to his feet and went to the edge of the car, looking down at the other wolves below him.

Zorro glanced up at Mikey, up on the car on the roof of the building, and got to his feet.
"Come down from there." He called to him. "I need to talk to everyone."

Mikey nodded and came down from the building, looking up at his leader expectantly.

Zorro looked down at his pack for a few moments before he started talking, making sure they were listening.
"Not all of you have been working for your keep." He told them. "If this doesn't change, you'll be exiled from the pack."

Mikey looked around, shocked.
"Who?" He asked.

Zorro tilted his head.
"To be honest, you could all do more work." He replied, "So I'm not naming names."
His gaze landed on Aria for a moment, and Giro jumped to his feet with a growl of fury.
"Aria is pregnant, she's too vulnerable for you to exile!" He barked. "I'll do her share of the work myself."

Mikey looked at the two wolves, surprised. He didn't see how Giro could put himself at risk for his mate like that.

Giro noticed the black wolf with the scar looking at him and turned away, laying down next to Aria and curling himself around her petite form, choosing to ignore the worried frown she gave him.

"Why did you do that?" Mikey asked Giro as the other wolves started to disperse. "You're just going to get yourself exiled."

Giro growled at the other wolf angrily.
"You don't understand love." He snapped. "If you did, you wouldn't have to ask."

Mikey growled at the other wolf slightly for a moment before turning his head away.

Giro looked at the other wolf distrustfully.
"Are you trying to start a fight?" He growled angrily. "Don't start on me."
